The British Forum for Ethnomusicology invites presenters who are students, BIPOC scholars, or unable to pay fees because of severe economic, political, or other constraints, to apply directly to the British Forum for Ethnomusicology for a limited number of bursaries to help defray the costs of attending the conference.
If you wish to apply for a bursary, please send the following information (max. 350 words) to Professor Byron Dueck, BFE Conference Liaison byron.dueck@open.ac.uk by 20th February:
- Name
- Confirmation that you are a 2026 member of the BFE, or will be at the time of the conference
- A short budget
- Explanation of circumstances of financial need
- Acknowledgment/explanation of any other subsidies for which you are eligible/applying
- Students should indicate their degree programme, institution, and year of study
Applications must be received by 20th February. Decisions will be made by members of the BFE Committee (please do not contact the Programme or Local Arrangements Committees). If you have any questions or require any further information, please contact Byron Dueck at byron.dueck@open.ac.uk.
The BFE is a non-profit academic society with a limited budget, so we encourage presenters to draw on any institutional resources available to them before applying for a bursary.
